Triple West Medical are seeking a Consultant Gastroenterologist for a NHS Trust based in London either on a substantive basis or a Fixed Term Contract.

This University NHS Trust has over 7,000 staff and operate both Acute and Community services across multiple locations. They recently made significant improvements in quality and ED performance.

The Department is a busy and thriving providing a broad range of services for patients with all gastrointestinal disorders. Jointly led by specialist medical and surgical gastroenterologists and supported by specialist nurses in many fields, gastroenterology services include rapid access to diagnostics for patients with potential GI malignancies through endoscopy and Faster Diagnostic Standard (FDS) clinics. The Trust is a regional cancer centre for the diagnosis and treatment of upper GI malignancies and colorectal cancer. They are fully accredited for training in endoscopy and are a Regional Training Centre with JAG. They provide assessment, treatment and continuing care for patients with all gastrointestinal and liver conditions. The Endoscopy unit at one of the sites is also a nominated and chosen site for the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Program

They are now looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic Consultant Gastroenterologist as part of departmental expansion and continued development of specialised services.

Brief Duties/Responsibilities

- The successful candidate needs to be fully competent in all aspects of upper and lower GI endoscopy as well as management of GI bleeding
- Will be independent in diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy, sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy and will have to engage in Upper and lower GI clinics and FDS pathways
- Expected to contribute to the large and small bowel service by supporting the capsule endoscopy service and also developing small bowel enteroscopy services
- Expected to comply with all relevant Trust policies relating to administration of patient care
- Work with service managers and clinical colleagues to manage their caseload in a flexible way, to ensure clinical, national and local priorities, such as maximum waiting times for referral to treatment, are achieved
- To participate in ward based work
- Will not be expected to participate in the general medical rota, occasionally general medical patients are admitted to the gastroenterology bed base and are looked after by the gastroenterologists
- Expected to participate fully in the scheduled academic activities


Our client is happy to issue Certificate of Sponsorships to suitably qualified overseas doctors however GMC registration and relevant experience is essential for this position.
