Our client provides for North Northamptonshire, South Leicestershire and parts of Rutland, all of the acute services that would be expected of a hospital of its size. The population served is in excess of 330,000 for elective services, 400,000 for non-elective services and 900,000 for Primary PCI. Much of the hospital is of recent construction with many new developments being undertaken and there are excellent laboratory and radiological facilities on site. There is a new Ambulatory Care Unit, Cardiac Centre and Foundation Wing, housing cardiology, paediatrics and intensive care. They're also a part of the Trent Region and the hospital has well-developed links with Leicester Medical School with Affiliated Teaching Hospital status, receiving medical students, foundation, core and specialty trainees.
The appointee will be expected to undertake various duties within the role, these include: post holder will be responsible for providing a comprehensive general outpatient neurology service to the catchment area, alongside the existing Neurology consultant and Neurology specialist nurses, post holder will also be providing specialist inpatient review where required, if inpatient beds are required the post holder will have access to inpatient beds, Junior support available via a full time Registrar and SHO rotating through Neurology, post holder will be encouraged to practice a special interest clinics, the post holder has the option of conducting a specialist clinic +/- MDT participation, Time for specialist interest clinic/ research and to carry out teaching duties as required could be arranged according to the interest of the appointee, appointee will be encouraged to participate in the research activities of the Department of Neurology, The post-holder will be expected to participate in programmes for teaching clinical students, training junior doctors and in clinical examinations & appointee will participate in clinical governance activities, including clinical audit, clinical effectiveness, risk management, quality improvement activities as required by the Trust, and external accrediting bodies
