We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Specialty Doctor in Care of the Elderly on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful department.
Our client is an integrated organisation providing community and acute hospital services within the local health economy with a total income of just over £220 million. The Trust directly employs over 4000 staff making us one of the largest employers in the west midlands. The hospital site was substantially redeveloped between 2007 and 2010 and has 550 acute beds. It also comprises of outpatient, diagnostic and treatment facilities for short stay cases whilst the upgraded older building provides emergency care. Over the last 12 months more than £50m has been invested in healthcare services across the hospital's estate which includes two new, state-of-the-art MRI scanners, the creation of a new 22 bedded Intensive Care Unit and a new Obstetric Theatre and expansion of the Neonatal Unit. Our client are implementing a new Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system this year as part of its exciting digital transformation journey. The trust is working with System C, a UK company working exclusively with the NHS, which has successfully deployed EPR in 24 other organisations.
The successful appointee will be asked to fulfil various duties, such as: You will work on the general/elderly Unit supporting our advanced nurse practitioners as well as the junior doctor team with other middle grade staff to provide first line of support for Specialty Trainees and Foundation Doctors and take the lead in the care of the seriously ill patients; see and treat all categories of patients in Frail/Elderly Care/Geriatric and General Internal Medicine, this post will allow you to consolidate your experience in a supportive General/Elderly environment; giving you wide ranging clinical exposure and training; you will also have the opportunity to gain additional experience in a specialty of your chosen field (frailty, orthogeriatric, Parkinson's disease, falls and tilt table, etc..), Assist in teaching junior members of staff in the department, Encouraged to partake in the Trust Speciality Doctor teaching and training programme & Independent ward rounds twice a week.
