We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Consultant in Cardiology on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful Cardiology department.
Our client provides hospital services to a growing population of around 700,000 people living across the East of England and the surrounding areas across two busy hospital sites within the area. They have state-of-the art facilities placing us at the heart of cutting edge health care. The Trust continues to be committed to delivering the best patient care using the best clinical knowledge and technology available.
They have a dedicated cardiac unit with outpatient, diagnostic and office facilities and a cardiac catheterization laboratory. We serve a catchment population of 260,000 with general cardiology, including coronary angiography, PCI and bradycardia pacing. Currently they have one catheter laboratory in which diagnostic angiography, PCI and pacing take place. There is a sixteen bedded Cardiac Care Unit. We provide a senior ward round seven days a week. There is currently no specific on-call, but the appointee will perform morning ward rounds on the weekend once a month.
The successful appointee will be asked to fulfil various duties whilst working here. These include: The appointee will work closely with the five existing cardiology consultants in providing the full range of cardiology services, including diagnosis, investigation and treatment of patients. The appointee will be highly skilled in the management of adult heart disease but in particular PCI with use of adjunctive imaging technologies (IFR, FFR, IVUS and OCT), Post holder will be required to attend the weekly Cardiology MDT meeting where cases are discussed with other cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons, The appointee will need to be non-resident on call following their interventional sessions and may be required to participate in a Cardiology emergency rota, the appointee should attend the twice monthly Cardiology management meeting, where strategic and operational issues relating to the wider department are addressed, There is a continuous responsibility for teaching, training and supervision of junior medical staff, Involvement in teaching of undergraduates, nurses and allied health professionals is expected & The appointee should attend clinical governance meetings and contribute to the Division's audit programme
