We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Specialty Doctor in Adult Psychiatry on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful department.
Our client specializes in caring for people with a wide range of physical and mental health needs. They are constantly developing and working in innovative ways to provide modern, dependable services in: Physical and mental health sectors, Primary, secondary and community services & Health and social care settings for all ages and were in fact authorised as a Foundation Trust on 1 May 2007.Our client's site is a 38-bed acute inpatient mental health unit, with a 39th bed for CAMHS. It has two wards, Hazel Ward and Willow Ward, predominately for working-age adults who require a hospital admission when suffering from an acute crisis in their mental health. The wards are staffed 24 hours a day and the team consist of doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, psychologists, peer support workers, pharmacy staff and domestic staff. A range of therapeutic activities including a fully equipped gym are available to patients both in group and individual format. There is a Social and Recovery team who offer support when patients near discharge in transitioning back to their own environment. Support can also be offered to families and carers. The Campbell Centre provides support for adults who are: are vulnerable, at risk of harm to self or others as a result of an acute phase of a serious mental illness and cannot be safely supported in a community setting despite increased level of support, care and treatment, have been detained under the Mental Health Act (including Community Treatment Order (CTO) recalls), suspected to have an acute mental illness, or a relapse of long-term mental illnesses that, due to the level of identified risks to self or others, cannot be safely assessed and treated anywhere but in an inpatient mental health ward & who are suffering an acute phase of a serious mental illness.
The successful appointee will be asked to fulfil various duties, such as: the appointee will be asked to perform physical and psychiatric assessments and review of patients suffering from various psychiatric disorders who are admitted to Willow Ward, Where the post-holder will work with a medical team consisting of a Consultant Psychiatrist and one or two Core Trainees. Willow Ward has a high rate of admission and discharge, the appointee will contribute to the supervision of the trainees and is expected to contribute and support in other clinical duties and writing discharge summaries, the appointee is required to review new patients within 72 hours of admission. Regular clinical supervision will be provided by the Consultant & the post-holder may be required to work in other localities in line with the needs of the service.
