We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Consultant in Haematology on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful Haematology department.

The successful appointee will be joining a department of 7 Consultant Haematologists, supported by 8 Clinical Nurse Specialists and 4 registrars .The department have asked the appointee to fulfil responsibilities such as: will provide a weekly general haematology new patient clinic, a weekly follow-up clinic of patients with myeloproliferative disorders and a weekly Thrombosis clinic, would be expected to attend the weekly thrombosis MDT and weekly malignant MDT, will be supported by a specialist registrar and a haematology nurse specialist, each with their own area of special interest, a commitment to attend ward patients is required. This is undertaken on a 2 week block rolling rota shared with other consultants, (1:6). Full ward rounds will be undertaken twice a week when you are allocated to ward cover, with daily reviews required for new admissions and unstable patients. During weeks off ward cover, the dedicated full ward-round time will be allocated SPA time, will be expected to attend and participate in the weekly morphology meeting and core medical trainee and specialist haematology trainee teaching programme in addition to being a clinical supervisor for junior doctors. You will have the opportunity to be an educational supervisor if you wish & have an active local interest in maintaining diagnostics expertise through in-house reporting of bone marrows and weekly morphology review meeting. If you wish, you can have the opportunity to participate in this diagnostic service, although this is not mandatory
