Consultant in Stroke Medicine

We've been assigned by one of the best performing NHS Trusts in the UK to help them recruit a Consultant in Stroke Medicine on either a Substantive or a 12 month NHS Fixed Term basis.

The successful appointee will be joining a team of 10 NHS and academic consultants providing Stroke services to the people within this area, where you will be joining a dedicated multi-disciplinary team of professionals providing outstanding Stroke care and internationally recognised Stroke research within the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre. The stroke service provided at this trust consists of: a 16 bedded hyper acute stroke unit ,a 28 bedded acute rehabilitation stroke unit, 18 bedded long-term rehabilitation stroke unit, a daily Fast Track TIA clinic providing 7 day working, Stroke outpatient clinics, 24/7 thrombolysis service supported by telemedicine and a regional Mechanical Thrombectomy service. The appointee will be joining an enthusiastic team with a specialist interest in stroke care where the appointee will play a key part in further developments of the stroke pathway, providing input to hyper acute stroke, acute stroke, intensive rehab and continuing stroke rehabilitation.

The appointee will be asked to fulfil duties within this department, these include: provision of reciprocal cover for periods of leave, continuing responsibility for the care of patients in the appointee's charge and the proper functioning of the department, provision with Consultant colleagues of a comprehensive elective and emergency stroke service, expected to take an active role in clinical governance and audit activities, play a significant role in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching & providing consultant cover for the Hyper Acute Stroke Unit, Weekend and week day on call cover, Acute Stroke Ward, TIA fast track clinic & Outpatients.
