Applications are invited for a Consultant Rheumatologist with interest in Acute Medicine to join a Trust that can give you the best possible balance between a stimulating career and a relaxing personal life. Our client is regularly one of the top-three hospitals in England for emergency care. They have a global reputation for research, development and innovative partnerships with primary care.
The appointee will be joining the Rheumatology team of one full-time consultant and one part-time consultant. You will also join three full-time Consultant Acute Physicians and two part time Associate Specialists to create a team of five. You will be working within the Emergency Admissions Unit, Emergency Department and AEC.
The post is permanent and the Trust are offering the following options:
Option 1- 10 PAs for Rheumatology and Acute Medicine
OR
Option 2 – 8 Pas solely in Rheumatology
The department Specialist Physiotherapist assesses and treats patients with inflammatory arthritis and Ankylosing Spondylitis in the therapy department and has joint injection clinic in the Outpatients' department. The department also has a Specialist Occupational Therapist with an interest in hand therapy that works closely with the team to support outpatients, and who attends regular multidisciplinary case conference and team meetings.
An Osteoporosis Nurse Specialist in charge of assessing patients at risk of fracture and advising appropriate investigations and treatment is in post.
The Trust also has an Ambulatory Care Unit to provide a dedicated space in which to undertake infusions. There are strong links with Pharmacy services to support new developments in prescribing treatment for Rheumatology patients.
The appointee must have the following to be eligible for this post:
• Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise. Applicants must have entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview date), CESR or European Community Rights.
• MRCP (or equivalent)
• For candidates who reside abroad you must have completed the necessary language test (IELTS / OET / NARIC) before applying. You must be able to satisfy the language test requirements of the UKVI remit.

You will join our Dermatology team of 3 Consultants, 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner, 2 Nurse Specialists, 2 Nurse Specialist Trainees, 2 Hospital Practitioners and 1 Trainee Hospital Practitioner.
