Our services have been appointed to recruit a Locum Consultant in Respiratory and General Medicine by one of our clients based at a modern general hospital in the South East of England.
The respiratory department's permanent staff consists of 9 consultants (7.25WTE), 4 lung cancer nurses (3.4WTE), 2 TB nurses (1WTE), 2 respiratory physiologists ( 2 WTE) and the Regional East Sussex Pulmonary Service (RESPS) which is a multi-disciplinary team of respiratory nurses, physiotherapists and support workers providing integrated respiratory services to East Sussex residents.
The hospital is supported by trainees and has 3 SpR's, 4 core trainees, 6 foundation doctors and an excellent admin team comprising personal assistants, medical secretaries and support workers.
The new post has been created due to the increasing demand for specialist respiratory services in the region. The department has some exciting times ahead as they expand both their EBUS and Home NIV services.
The location is well known for its beautiful beaches and harbors, natural beauty, excellent travel connections and its picturesque villages. It is one of England's most historic counties, if you find yourself torn between the rolling inland countryside and the quintessential British coast then location would be ideal for you.
The Department of Respiratory Medicine provides a wide range of services including, Asthma, COPD, Interstitial Lung Disease, Tuberculosis and Occupational Lung Disease.
The appointee will be expected to help develop and enhance the general and respiratory medicine services for both inpatients and out-patients. The hospital is particularly interested in candidates with an interest in difficult asthma, interstitial lung disease or Bronchiectasis. Other interests that compliment those of the existing consultants would also be welcome. This post involves rotation between on and off ward months with the other 2 consultants. This post includes on-call for General medicine, currently on a 1/11 basis.

You should be fully registered with the GMC and hold a licence to practice. Applicants must have entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within six months of the interview date), CESR or European Community Rights.
