UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL – CONSULTANT CLINICAL ONCOLOGY VACANCY


We have been approached by an NHS University Hospital based in the East just 55mins from London, to help them recruit a Consultant Clinical Oncologist on an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months.

This vacancy is for a Clinical Oncologist with special interests in Lung and or Upper GI and is an ideal opportunity for highly experienced Specialty Doctors looking for their first Consultant level appointment, overseas doctors seeking their first UK posting, and or any other UK Consultant happy to participate in a mid range contract for a temporary change.

Our client is the designated Cancer Centre for the region offering state of the art Radiotherapy, a dedicated Chemotherapy Unit and a Surgical Centre for Uro-Oncology and Gynae-Oncology Surgery. They also offer breast screening, ophthalmology and orthodontic services to the wider region as well as the full comprehensive range of acute services. The department is referred in excess of 2,500 new patients per annum

There are very strong links between the Oncology Department and other departments at the Trust. There are CT & MRI facilities available on site and a static PET scanner operated by Alliance medical.

The Chemotherapy Treatment Unit (CTU moved to a new purpose built facility some years ago. The CTU has twenty-two chairs and two side rooms for treatment and two consulting rooms. There is an Oncology Nurse Consultant, who is also the Lead Cancer Nurse for the Trust, and undertakes oral chemotherapy clinics. The CTU is managed by a chemotherapy Clinical Nurse Specialist supported by 15 TWE chemotherapy nurses.
