Our client, a prestigious NHS Trust hospital, is looking for an experienced and dedicated Consultant to join their Gastroenterology Department due a retirement.
The successful candidate will join two consultants and a locum acute physician who does some GI sessions. You will participate in the acute medicine on-call rota, 1:11, and acute upper GI bleeding, 1:11.
The hospital are seeking an enthusiastic Consultant to continue the development of endoscopy and Gastroenterology through the Trust. The provision of acute medical care has increased within the Trust with an expansion of the Acute Medicine consultant base and a new Medical Admissions Unit.
As a Consultant you will be responsible for in-patient care, Endoscopy activity and service development. You will also hold out-patient clinics. The MAU consultants arrange transfers to the Gastroenterology department and you will be required to review the new acute GI admissions.
The in-patient Gastroenterology ward is made up of 14 beds. The Consultants also review ITU patients with liver diseases, new admissions to MAU with acute GI diseases and in-patient referrals from the surgery department. There is also a new 2 room Endoscopy Unit.
You will be supported by 9 Specialty Registrars and 18 Junior Doctors working on the General Medicine rota. The Gastroenterology department has one Specialty Registrar, a Trust Grade and 3 Junior Doctors. As a Consultant, you will be responsible for providing professional training to the junior medical staff.
The current proposed job plan is made up of 10PAs, with 1.5 dedicated to SPAs. This is subject to review upon appointment.
The position offers an excellent basic salary of £75,249 - £101,451 (depending on experience) and you will receive up to 50% banding payments. You will also receive pay enhancements for any out-of-hours or shift work that you do. You will also be enrolled onto the NHS Superannuation Scheme.
