Consultant Gastroenterologist – Permanent vacancy in Bristol

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant in Gastroenterology to join a renowned NHS Trust based in Bristol.

Applications are invited for an experienced Consultant to join the Gastroenterology Department at a prestigious NHS Trust based in Bristol. This is a replacement consultant post.

The Department are seeking a Gastroenterologist to further develop the gastrenterology and endoscopy in the Trust. The successful candidate will join two substantive Consultants and a locum acute physician who does some GI Sessions. You will join the multidisciplinary team and participate in the on-call rota for acute upper GI bleeding and acute medicine.

The department has 9 Specialty Registrars, 9 CMT1/2 and F2s as well as 9 F1 doctors working shifts and on calls. The Gastroenterology department itself is supported by an SpR and a Trust Grade Doctor as ell as 2 F2 and 1 F1 juniors.

As a Consultant, your job plan will be based on in-patients, endoscopy activities and SPAs. The job plan of all Gastroenterology Consultants will be subject to review before a start date.

There are currently an average of 30 daily acute admissions in the MAU. You will be expected to review new acute GI admissions by attending MAU. The in-patient gastroenterology ward has 14 beds with ITU patients with liver diseases being reviewed. There is also a new 2 room endoscopy unit.

You will be required to participate in the general professional training of the junior medical members and the training of nurses and other staff.

The position offers and excellent basic salary of £75,249 - £101,451 (depending on experience). You will also receive up to 50% banding payments on top of your basic salary. Pay enhancements are rewarded for any out-of-hours or shift work that you do. You will also be automatically enrolled onto the NHS Superannuation Scheme. The Trust also has a relocation policy offered to all eligible new Consultants.
