DESCRIPTION OF MAIN DUTIES:

The Radiology Department provides a comprehensive imaging service to support the wide spectrum of clinical work undertaken within the Trust. All major clinical specialties, with the exceptions of transplant surgery, neurosurgery and cardiac surgery, are represented in the Trust.

Within the Radiology Department, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in the routine general work of the Department. The successful candidate will be based along with all other consultant colleagues at the Bradford Royal Infirmary, but will be expected to perform clinical duties both at Bradford Royal Infirmary and St Luke's Hospital.

The Department has seen a steady increase in investigations over the last year. There has been a particular increase in activity in CT and MRI. There are plans to increase the current consultant base in the near future. However, this post has been created to increase our reporting capacity until the substantive appointments have been made.

The successful candidate will be expected to offer a wide range of expertise in general radiology reporting. Specific experience in reporting CT scans of the thorax, abdomen and pelvis, and MRI scans of the brain and spine are expected.

Additional experience in any cross section specialty area, specifically, though not exclusively, neuroradiology, head and neck/ENT radiology and musculoskeletal radiology would be advantageous.

The successful candidate is also expected to undertake routine plain film reporting and general ultrasound examinations of the abdomen/pelvis and other superficial structures.
